In support of recent security directives, NIH is implementing a technical update to enhance security measures focused on protecting data provided by NIH Controlled-Access Data Repositories. Specifically, as of May 5, 2025, NIH requires that distribution agreements be valid for a period no longer than one year. If you have active requests for newer versions of these distributions or to other distributions, your access to those versions/distributions will be unaffected by this change. You may refer to your user dashboard for your currently active requests: https://www.nimhgenetics.org/approval/user/ (login required). Please be advised the distribution agreement now only grants access for a maximum of one year.
Per the terms of the distribution agreement, you may not keep any raw data files or biospecimens without active access to a version of the source distribution. To maintain access to these distributions and/or request new distribution you will need to complete a new access request: https://www.nimhgenetics.org/request-access/how-to-request-access. If you are requesting access with substantially the same study description as in your prior request, your cover letter should include a progress report on what was accomplished for your last request (publications, locations of secondary analyses uploads, etc.)
Additionally, if you are looking for access to the CommonMind and/or the PsychENCODE Consortium Distribution(s) formerly accessible through Synapse/NRGR, these data are now only available through the NIMH Data Archive (NDA). More information about how to request access through NDA is available on the Getting Access to Shared Data page on the NDA website.
Please contact the NIMH Genomics Resources Program Office for any questions or concerns: NIMH.genomics.resources@mail.nih.gov.
